Last Notice for our Year 6 Young Leaders Trip ~ Palmerston North Trip

This is the last newsletter about our Year 6 trip to Palmerston North on Tuesday to the National Young Leaders day.

Please note this is the 2019 Venue.

9.30am-2.30pm

A reminder to students to be at school at 5.00am ready for a 5.15 departure.

We did forget to mention in our last newsletter that there are badges for sale at the event. This is optional for our students and should they wish to buy a badge they need to bring the required money.

They can be purchased in both red and gold! They are one for $3 or two for $5.

Check list for students

  • Pen (Students are given a booklet)
  • Lunch, Water filled drink bottle.
  • Snacks for morning tea and afternoon tea.
  • Pillow and small blanket (Optional for bus)
  • Music device (With parent permission.)

Te Pepeha - Govett Brewster Art gallery

 

One of the activities we completed at the Art gallery today was representing some of our Pepeha by using different things on a piece of drift wood. These will be displayed in Kahikatea.

Can you see the triangular shape to represent our Mounga? The tin has patterns etched into it that also went around the drift wood to represent our Awa 
Ribbon was use to represnt Te Atiawa our iwi.
String was used to represent our hapu Te Whiti

Please note we have a date for our Tūhono/Kahikatea Swimming Celebration Day. This day will be held on Wednesday 27 March at Highland's Intermediate at the pool. Students will travel by bus.

WIT- Wildly Important Task

Today our Hub started their first WIT for the year. WIT stands or Wildly Important Task. We use a learning model called Te Ara Tika to help us complete the task.

This WIT is an art WIT where our learners will have to learn about an art style, practice the skills involved and then create an artwork about something they are passionate about or interested in. We are looking forward to seeing a whole Hub full of different artworks, each special and unique to the artist. This is just how artists in the real world work!
