Passion Projects
Kahikatea have been busy designing and carrying out their own projects this term.
They must prove what learning is happening, and find experts, carry out research,
design, make and do! Thanks to those parents who have popped in to help with the projects,
and we excitedly invite any others to come and join in the organised chaos!
Stay tuned for more project info...

Kahikatea Flood by Lucia
You may be aware of the flood last Monday in Kahikatea...here is Lucia's wonderfully descriptive take on it.
You could never believe one blustery lunchtime could be the lunchtime you'll remember
for the rest of your life. So today i’m going to tell you all about the kahikatea flood.
for the rest of your life. So today i’m going to tell you all about the kahikatea flood.
me and my friend aimee were quietly drawing when all of a sudden we heard a bullhorn
of voices saying, ITS FLOODING!!! Oh it's probably outside. I thought to myself. I looked
outside and saw an immense waterfall falling from the roof. Then i looked inside, and
there it was, a raging leek from the roof. There was a swamp of water in the middle hub
teeming into hub 10 and 11. Everybody started emptying buckets of books to try to
stop the water emerging into the hubs.

10 mins later all the teachers came storming into the classroom. All the boys took the
flood a fun way. They started glissading on the toe deep water. And in the meantime all
the girls were screaming. WERE GONNA DIE!!!!

After the flood stopped we got departed into the library until the bell rang.
For a whole day we had to work in te kakano our junior class, and let me tell you i
couldn't even sit on those chars without getting billions of bruises on your leg.
Cause those chairs are for little kids only. At that point i was so irritated i just moved
onto the ground.

While we were in a different class after disaster came and vacuumed up the moist
floors, and in the afternoon we moved back into our class.

Art Photos
Last term the class worked on an Art WIT where most students had to design and create an artwork around one of three themes. You can read more about these in an ealier blog post. Here are some of the finished pieces - each one conveys a personal message from the artist(s) involved.
